I spend a lot of time on Paper 1 structure, global issues for the IO and making essay plans less vague. I’ve also marked school mock papers for IB departments, so I’m quite direct about what examiners are likely to reward and what usually costs marks. Students often come to me when their analysis is thoughtful but not yet organised enough.

Hi, I tutor IB English and I’m probably at my happiest when a student brings in a tricky poem or a messy first draft. I’ve worked with sixth-form students for six years, mainly on Paper 2 comparisons and IO scripts.
